Harvest on the Harbor: Thousands came despite the rain. The event was a tremendous success, selling thousands of tickets for the three day culinary extravaganza. On Friday, the Lobster Competition served up a winner!

The audience crowns

Chef Mackenzie Arrington,

Maine Lobster Chef of the Year.

Where did “Mac” purchase ALL of his fresh ingredients including his Shucks Lobster Meat used during the competition? Ayuh, you guessed it, From Native Maine!

Harvest on the Harbor, presented by the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau, brings nationally recognized chefs using Maine products and blends them with our own award winning local chefs in celebrating Maine as a culinary travel destination. Native Maine Produce & Specialty Foods was a premier sponsor of the event and was named “Official Produce Supplier” of the four day affair which was held over the weekend in Portland and Scarborough.

Chef Mackenzie Arrington, a recent graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, earned the title of Maine Lobster Chef of the Year on Friday with his dish of Roasted Lobster Tail on Braised Cabbage and Cornbread. Two hundred lucky attendees tasted dishes prepared by three chef competitors, watched each chef demonstrate their recipe, and then voted on their favorite. At the competition, Mackenzie was awarded $1,000 in prize money and a limited edition Maine Lobster jacket. He will have a display plaque identifying him as the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year.

Native Maine supports the mission of the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau which is to stimulate the economic vitality of Greater Portland by soliciting and servicing conventions, meetings, groups, and visitors and by promoting Greater Portland as a preferred destination.
